Why Outsource to PSC?

We understand underwriting - and the challenges it presents, but more importantly, we listen to your needs and wishes, both at the outset and continually as we work with you. We develop the means to accomplish the goals you set for your loss control efforts. We are your safety department if you have questions, and we answer them free of charge.

We work for you. You tell us what you want, or we can help you define those needs. The advantage for you is our extensive experience and refinement in helping other insurers and transportation risks. Furthermore, we are completely open to changes based on your needs. In practical terms, you begin the process, and we take it from there.

We can act as your entire loss control department or as an extension of your existing program, working closely with you. All of our consultants are experienced safety and compliance specialists. With our continued growth, you have a dependable firm which has a wide variety of resources and services, literally a phone call away.

We handle the hassles (e.g., setting up appointments, cancellations, dealing with remote locations and the distance between insureds). Our procedures, refined by our experience, make the whole process efficient, and we handle everything. Once you notify us of a request for service, we set up the appointment(s), make reservations, perform the survey, complete the report and recommendations, and send it to you by the date you have specified.

We keep abreast of all of the most current regulatory requirements and the latest loss control technology and concepts. We will develop any other programs you need to help you accomplish your goals for better loss control.

Anyone can be a "consultant," but few can extend the array of services we offer our clients, and few companies specialize in the transportation industry. Transportation expertise becomes important in being able to relate to your insureds. We pride ourselves on our work. Our consultants carry themselves in a professional and diplomatic manner, representing you well, and reports are sent to you only after meeting our stringent standards. If it concerns our clients, it concerns us. We want to establish long-term, working relationships which are mutually beneficial.

The Benefits of Outsourcing

Outsourcing is the most cost effective and cost efficient method of providing loss control and safety services. The cost of an "in-house" program is usually in excess of 200% to 300% of the wages paid. There are costs for office space, support staff, supplies, telephone and mailing expenses, program development, research, training, and extremly expensive travel costs.

The concept of outsourcing is simple; your costs are controllable. You pay a reasonable price for expert service. Companies across the nation are finding that it is extremely beneficial to outsource specialized work such as loss control to well-established, expert firms such as ours, because typically service increases while costs decrease.

Our rates are reasonable. Our quality and service are second to none. We have consultants across the country, and we also plan our trips so that we can geographically group services in a given area, dramatically reducing travel costs which is not possible for an in-house loss control department.

Our Numbers (Cost and Effectiveness)

Our Cost

On average, an employer's total cost of an employee is 2.4 times the employee's salary per year. What does that mean? If your loss control rep is on salary for $50,000, you are going to incur a total cost of $120,000 including taxes, benefits, etc. (minimum). Include additional travel expenses and the position is costing your company a minimum of $177,854. What does that money buy you? If the position requires on-site consulting, that will buy you, on average, 120 loss control reports per year. Your average report costs $1,482.12. That same $177,854 would buy you approximately 97.5% more by outsourcing. As an Underwriter, you already have enough pressure. Let us help you make the process more productive, efficient and results oriented. You will have a personalized report that provides you with the tools necessary to make your decisions effective. Bottom line: We can do your loss control for half the price and you enjoy the benefits of having an entire loss control staff at your fingertips with a combined experience of over 600 years.

Our Effectiveness

How many times have you been solicited about loss control (or anything for that matter) and wondered if they were "as good as advertised?" Everyone wants to tell you how low cost they can be. We'll go a step further. One of our loyal customers recently conducted an independent actuarial analysis and it was determined that our overall risk evaluation ratings (Above Average, Average, and Below Average) were effective in yielding accurate predictions regarding future loss ratios. For example, when we rated a risk for Underwriting using these three basic categories, their loss experience reflected exactly what we told the Underwriter it would. When we rated a risk "Above Average," the year end loss ratio for the book was 34.3% (3 years later with relentless loss control, it was 14.7%). For "Average," the ratio began at 41.9% and ended at 28.3% for the same period. "Below Average" began at 194.1%! After the implementation of mandatory loss control and revised Underwriting Guidelines for marginal risks, the result was a loss ratio improvement to 13.1% on retained "Below Average" risks under strict monitoring or cancellation. Just another reason to choose us for your LOSS CONTROL needs.
